Bloomsbury Residences stands where Media Circle meets Portsdown Road. Around it on the Media Circle side stand the buildings of Mediapolis, including Mediacorp Campus, Infinite Studios and Alice@Mediapolis, with Fusionopolis, Biopolis and one-north station further north-west; to the east, across Portsdown Road, rise the wooded slopes of the Wessex estate and its black-and-white houses, with Portsdown Avenue and the Ayer Rajah Expressway to the south.

The developer’s location map draws the wider picture: Holland Village and Buona Vista to the north, Queenstown and Alexandra to the east, the National University of Singapore and Science Park to the west, and the Rail Corridor running north to south past Wessex. It puts one-north station four minutes away by bicycle and Buona Vista one MRT stop beyond it.

The neighbourhood around Bloomsbury Residences

one-north is the 200-hectare business district master-planned by Zaha Hadid Architects, according to the brochure, and the JTC guide it quotes counts more than 500 multinational companies, 800 start-ups and 50,000 knowledge workers there. Mediapolis is its media and infocomm quarter, and Bloomsbury Residences is the first private residential development to break ground in it.

The Wessex estate is the opposite: low, green and old, its colonial houses now homes, studios, a school and cafes such as Colbar and Under der Linden. Around both lie the established neighbourhoods of Queenstown, Holland Village and Buona Vista, and the Rail Corridor links them on foot and by bicycle.

Five area guides look further: MRT and transport, Wessex and the Rail Corridor, one-north and Mediapolis, shopping and dining and schools nearby.
